Sea World Sketches

This is my second drawing of Obama. I drew another from the same photo and it sold in less than a week. This one looks a lot better since i spent more time drawing it during the rain...

This silhouette was very interesting. The family had adopted kids. The first and oldest was white, the second was african american and the last was asain. It made for a good silhouette but would have been much better as a triple side view portrait.

This double portrait was drawn one of my first days at sea world. The family was from chesapeake, va. This is a drawing from photos i took. i like how it turned out, they really liked it too.

Sea World

Well, I am transfering jobs from Busch Gardens, VA to Sea World, FL. Plus i'm getting a promotion to be the portrait supervisor...! I went to FL for a visit before I decided if I wanted the job. I tried out a new technique with my manager Dino. We used grey paper and charcoal dust, charcoal pencils and a kneaded eraser. I drew him and then the 2nd one I ever did was a sale. I think it turned out nice although I was probably pretty slow while still getting to know the materials and technique. Here is the one I drew of Dino:

This is from my last day of work.
My dear friend Angie who I've worked with for the last 6 years drew me.

This sketch was so cute! The boy was such a little handsome man.

Here is England Portraits at Busch Gardens.

You can see my drawing of Dennis on the middle of the cabinet.

Portraits from 07

Last year a lady came up to me at work one morning and was fully prepared with several photos of her dog that she wanted drawn. I picked what i thought was the best one which was a 3/4 view. Sadly, I didn't take a picture of that one. The lady came back later to pick it up and she liked it so much that she wanted one of the other photos done. I picked the profile view. This was my first attempt at drawing a pastel animal portrait at work, but luckily the photos were so excellent that I took at chance and drew it anyway. I love the way it turned out and i wish more quests would come in the park with pet photos! This is Beaver Cleaver. I drew it from a picture in a magazine and it was on display at France Portraits in 2007. I don't know where it is now.
Silhouttes always look pretty with bows, but sometimes they can be difficult to cut. This one wasn't too hard.

Portraits done at VCU art school

My dad. Acrylic and Oil. Dec 07. My neighbor. Oil. 2004.
Angel Statue. Acrylic. May 07.
Conceptual Portrait. Pastel. April 2008.
Can you guess who it is?......

...Jack Johnson

My soldier

These are photos and the portraits I drew/painted from the photos. They are of my army boyfriend Dennis.
This was done in 2004 in graphite:

This was drawn for a display portrait for work. I spent an hour and a half on it. Kamans liked it so much that they sent it to Ohio(without telling me) to make copies to send to other parks. I had to explain to them that I wanted the original back and it wasn't just some random person. I got it back about a year later. I know it is hanging up at Busch Gardens Europe and Sea World Orlando and who knows where else.
I painted this in my summer painting class of 2007 with acrylics. Spent a couple hours on it. Maybe 8? Took 2 days to finish.

Photos of my work taken from cell phone

This is family portrait from Oct 2007. We used tan paper on profiles that year. I miss it.
Another portrait artist Danielle and her brother.
This was done July 08. The very first thing i put on the page is a "blob" of skin tone and the mom was like "wow, its so amazing!" She complimented me the entire time which is always nice...

My life as a portrait artist

I drew these very nice people the other week. They were taking a lot of pictures so i asked if they could email them to me and they did. Originally they only wanted the first boy drawn but they liked it so much the grandmother got hers and they made their younger son sit as well. i really love how the first one came out. i'm glad i got pictures of me drawing for once!

ooohh....ambidextrious....
